After completing his incredible Wrekin 100 Challenge, Pete Heap, Principal Recruitment Consultant at Jonathan Lee Recruitment, recently visited Turreff Hall in Donnington to officially hand over a cheque for £3,760 to Telford Mind’s Veterans’ Cafe. This remarkable donation, which includes a generous £2,000 contribution from Jonathan Lee Recruitment, will go towards supporting the vital work the Veterans’ Café does in bringing ex-service personnel together, providing camaraderie, and offering essential support.

A Special Visit to the Veterans’ Cafe
On the day of the cheque handover, Pete was warmly welcomed by a group of inspiring individuals who dedicate their time to supporting the Armed Forces community. Among those present were:
- Adrian Payne – Armed Forces Champion, Telford Mind
- Councillor Fiona Doran – Donnington and Muxton Parish Council
- Cindy Mason-Morris – Armed Forces Partnership Officer
- Gemma Coulman-Smith – Operations Manager, Telford Mind
The visit was not just about the formalities; it was an opportunity to sit down with veterans, share a cup of tea, enjoy some posh biscuits (thanks Adrian!), and engage in meaningful conversations about their experiences and the importance of the support available through the Veterans’ Café.
A Warm Reception for Pete
During the event, Adrian Payne delivered a heartfelt speech, expressing immense gratitude for Pete’s dedication and fundraising efforts. As Pete officially handed over the cheque, he was met with a rousing round of applause from the veterans in attendance, a true testament to the impact his efforts have had on the community.
Reflecting on the moment, Pete shared, “It was a real honour to speak with these incredible people and see first-hand how much this support means to them. The Veterans’ Café is a lifeline for many, and I am incredibly proud to be able to contribute to its continued success.”
Looking Ahead: A New Challenge
Never one to slow down, Pete is already into his next challenge: swimming an astonishing 100,000 metres over the course of 2025 to once again raise funds for the Veterans’ Cafés run by Telford Mind. His unwavering commitment to the veteran community is truly inspiring, and we at Jonathan Lee Recruitment are proud to stand behind him.
Jonathan Lee Recruitment remains dedicated to supporting the Armed Forces community, and as an Armed Forces Covenant Champion and veteran himself, Pete plays a crucial role in this mission. The company has pledged to support his new challenge just as they did before, with another £2,000 donation upon completion.
Join Us in Supporting Pete
